Description

Protective relaying is an essential part of any electrical power system, quite unnecessary during normal operation but extremely important during abnormal operation and system disturbances. Protection systems typically used on industrial and electricity systems are installed to prevent faults from damaging electrical plant and equipment, and to initiate isolation of the faulted sections of the network in order to maintain continuity of supply of the unfaulted sections. The course primarily focuses on modern multi-functional microprocessor and numerical relays that also provide facilities to monitor system performance and permit adjustment of relay settings remotely.
